Keeping it Real in NM Education - Best Practices for Practitioners by Practitioners
We are very excited to announce the 2017 NMCCS Spring Conference in collaboration with Albuquerque Public Schools.
The theme of the conference is “Keeping it Real in NM Education: Best Practices for Practitioners by Practitioners.” It will offer the highest level of professional development for teachers, instructional leaders, principals and other educational practitioners.
The conference strands include:
- STEM/STEAM – Sessions such as standards-based programs, cross-curricular methods, working with splintered skills, school and community/workforce connections to enhance learning, effective lesson design in the STEM/STEAM subject areas
- Innovation and Teacher Practice and School Design – Sessions such as working effectively with PTSO or foundation, grant writing, differentiation utilizing learning styles, promoting staff longevity, ELL strategies, special education inclusion strategies
- Overcoming Academic Barriers – Sessions such as promoting effective executive functioning skills, improving student attendance, gaining support of parents, promoting organizational skills, overcoming the effects of poverty on academic achievement
- Overcoming Social Emotional Barriers – Sessions such as gaining support of parents, social media issues, the middle school age, student self-reliance/help/advocacy, keeping the teaching real, student stress management, creating a positive, respectful environment, creating a non-threatening learning environment.
Governing Council Training
Governing Council Training will be held on Wednesday, May 31 at the same location as the Spring Conference, however, it is a completely different training and schedule.

Attendees can reserve a room at Holiday Inn Express at the conference rate of $85.99 per night. This is for double queen occupancy, full hot breakfast, business center open 24 hours, fitness center and indoor pool.
You must call HIE at 505-275-8900 to reserve a room. Make sure you mention the NMCCS Spring Conference.
We are very excited to announce the 2017 NMCCS Spring Conference in collaboration with Albuquerque Public Schools. We expect approximately 300 attendees who will represent 100+ charter and APS district schools in New Mexico.
The exhibit area will be made up of six foot tables. The fee for each exhibitor space is $700.00. Please see the attached “Sponsor/Exhibitor Form” for detailed conference opportunities. There will be limited access to electricity.
Exhibits may be set up beginning Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 7:00 am and may be left up continuously. Even though the building will be locked at night, we cannot guarantee against damage or theft of items left unattended.
Sponsorships for refreshment breaks, lunches and the book “Teach Like a Champion,” as well as opportunities for a full color advertisement in our conference program are available. You may also sponsor the lanyards/name badges, conference bags or door prizes.

We are soliciting presentations on topics that spotlight researched-based instructional practices, with a particular emphasis on innovation, high-quality programming and serving educationally disadvantaged students, both in the area of social-emotional learning and for students struggling academically.
The Spring Conference will offer the highest level of professional development for teachers, instructional leaders, principals and other educational practitioners.
